This week we have another skincare line by Ernest Supplies. You could say we were pretty fortunate to have this brand on our hand (face) for a review as it is not so easily accessible here in Singapore. But not to worry now, because our friends from Grooming Den Singapore has picked them up for us and you could get it from them as well.

After our review on Anthony shaving cream and body wash review last week, we thought we have found one of the best skincare products. But yet again, we were proven wrong. There could be more ways on how a product is presented and used effectively. Ernest Supplies, which has won multiple grooming product awards is something you could not let it pass. Let’s dive into our in depth review.

Ernest Supplies was born in New York with a motivation to provide efficacious skincare products that uses natural plant based ingredients and integrates well with our modern lifestyle. The brand does not have a lot of product types on the shelf. They are keeping skincare routine simple for men to maintain and improve the health of their skin. Ernest Supplies is well known for their unique packaging that has high product to packaging ratio yet durable at the same time. We will dive deeper on it later.

Design and Packaging

In order to ensure the durability of the product, Ernest Supplies team has gained inspiration from the food industry on how to keep their product fresh at all times. As a result, they have developed the Tech Packs™ packaging to help protect the active ingredients from UV sunlights and oxygen. Both of this components are actually damaging to the ingredients used in cosmetic products.

On top of this, they have included a small twist on cap which is very durable. You could smash it on the floor or step on it, the liquid just won’t flow out and the cap is very much intact. This is especially useful for travellers where the normal bottle caps are not sealed tight enough, which resulting in spillage.

The cooling shave is a cream based (not a foam based) shaving product. Instead of having multiple steps for your shave, Ernest Supplies has designed all of the steps (which required multiple products) into one product. It acts as a hair conditioner to your beard, keeping it soft and moisturized for your pre-shave step. Rub gently on the areas you want to shave. Then use a sharp razor and shave according to the direction of your hair growth.

Throughout the shaving experience, I thought it was very easy and smooth. There were not redness or irritation especially since I have sensitive skin. After the shave, rinsing with cold water leaves a cooling sensation to your skin. The after effect does not dry my skin as compared to other products. However, if you really have dry skin, you could try out their Protective Matte Moisturizer

ERNEST SUPPLIES SOAP FREE Gel Face wash review

The soap free face wash is gentle to the skin. It has a citrusy scent to it and was very easy to go through the motion. Upon squeezing it out from the packaging, you will notice a mostly semi transparent yellowish liquid. Rubbing on a wet face was easy.

For myself, I have oily and dry skin combination. This soap free face wash does the job of removing the extra dirt and oil on my face. After rinsing with cold water, I do not encounter any dryness in my skin, which is something notable. Besides the exclusion of soaps, the use of glycerin has helped the product to ensure that your skin stays moisturized even after the wash. Not to mention that this face wash is rich in vitamin C.

ERNEST SUPPLIES protective matte moisturizer Review

To be honest, this is one my first matte moisturizers. I would say it is a very subtle product and immerse into your skin without any shine. For application, just squeeze a coin size amount, gently massage around the forehead, face and neck. It does not feel sticky or has any overpowering scent. In fact, it has a soothing citrusy scent. The Ernest Supply Protective Matte Moisturizer contains

• antioxidant complex with ferulic acid, acai, cupuacu & green tea for anti-aging
• jojoba oil and sodium hyaluronate for hydration

Overall, I don’t feel it oily but rather natural. Do make sure you are not perspiring when applying and probably 30 minutes after application to ensure your skin has absorbed the moisturizer.

Closing thoughts on ernest supplies skincare review

Definitely, the Ernest Supplies Skincare line is a premium product but with a good reason. It contains multiple natural plant based ingredients such as jojoba oil, acai and grape fruit oil that are beneficial for your skin. Personally, I feel this a good product for sensitive skin because of my condition. I did not faced any dryness or irritation using their products and in fact, I enjoyed the scent.
