Suavesmith Classic Pomade Review

Welcome to our 2nd Series for the Suavesmith product line. Previously we were quite impress with the Matte Wax, a very easy to use product and value for money. This time we are diving to their Classic Pomade. From the looks of it, you can tell it’s a gel like pomade. But does it hold as strong as it claimed? Let’s not waste anytime and dive straight into it

Design and Packaging

Very similar to the Matte Max, this is very standard black coated tin jar, it is light and weighs at 100g, which means you can carry them on your flight easily.

Scent

More to a light sweet cologne-like scent. Not overpowering and unnoticeable throughout the day.

 

 

Texture

As expected, it has a gel like texture, some sort similar to the Gerson & Co. It’s easy to scoop out and easy to breakdown. Rubbing on the hand is surprisingly not as sticky as other gel pomade. This is definitely give it a plus.

Application

As usual, I styled it with towel dried hair. Using a comb, the styling process was pretty smooth. Not tucking or any resistance. After a couple of seconds, you can easily get a slickback or side parting. It does gives a little hardening or some clumping on your hair. This is not surprising as most gel like pomade has this feature to provide a better hold

Restyling

Restyling is required around 2 times a day to maintain a good hold. Easily restyled with a wet comb.

Volume

I would say it does gives a moderate volume when style with comb.

Strength

• Medium Strong Hold. Feels the strength right after using them. Did i say it is pretty slick too?

• Suitable for indoor with light outdoor activities. Definitely not so suitable for any high perspiration outdoor activities.

Endurance

It works and endures great if you spend of your time in air conditioned indoors. Some light outdoors activities in high humidity conditions doesn’t damage much. The volume did reduce towards the end of the day. In the comparison below, you can see towards the end of the day, it did not hold that great because I did not restyle after my walks. However, it is much better after restyling with some water.

This is easily washed off with just water!

Verdict

For those corporate men, if you spend most time indoors and commute around with train or taxi, this product works great. Of course, you can’t expect it to works as good as when you hit the outdoors with high intensity activities. It does not flakes after styling or over hardening. Overall, a very satisfying, easy to use product. Another great product by local brewers!
